BJJ

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or BJJ, is a martial art based on grappling and ground fighting, focusing on the skill of controlling one’s opponent through techniques that force him or her to submit. BJJ prides itself on being known as “the gentle art”, allowing a smaller, weaker person using leverage and submissions to defend himself against a bigger opponent.

Whether it is for recreation, competition, fitness or for self defence we will help you reach your goals!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is primarily a self-defence martial art, based on grappling and submission holds. It focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one’s opponent, gaining a dominant position and using a number of techniques to force them into submission.

What is No Gi Training?

A style of Jiu-Jitsu where gripping of material is not permitted, and techniques are altered appropriately. A realistic transition to self-defence in the street as well as training for a rapidly growing sport.

No Gi is a far better style if you want to develop a strong grappling offense. It teaches you how to mix BJJ with wrestling techniques to put strong pressure on your opponents. You wll spend a lot of time learning how to use balance, hand positioning, and body mechanics.

No Gi action is much faster and the rolling sessions are often exhausting. This will certainly improve your cardio and endurance after just a few months of training. Over time, your reactions will also become much faster since you don’t have much time to think during the rolls.

Gi Grappling

There are many benefits to Gi training. You will learn a lot of techniques you won’t learn in No Gi training. For instance, Gi training teaches more sweeps, escapes, and various submissions you can’t execute without the Gi.. While and Gi and No Gi are very similar, the way both styles evolve are very different. In Gi, the numerous grips and Gi material mean that alot of set ups are based on using the Gi matrerial for ex: lapel or worm guard (which is impossible in No Gi). In No Gi, you look more at taking your opponent’s back because mounting in No Gi has limited submisions, and the back position has the rear naked choke and other options. You will find No Gi players using more guillotines and brabo/darce chokes as well as using more foot locks.
